The Ukrenergo family is facing a great tragedy. The entire Ukrainian energy sector has suffered an enormous loss. Today, Oleksii Brekht — a member of the Management Board of our company and its former head — was tragically killed. Death found him where he believed he had to be in order to restore electricity to people as quickly as possible. For the second day in a row, Oleksii Oleksandrovych had been personally overseeing restoration work at one of the energy facilities recently attacked by the enemy.
Oleksii Brekht was 47 years old. More than 24 of those years he devoted to working at Ukrenergo. His career included a wide range of experience and positions — from Head of the Prospective Development Service of the Central Power System to dispatcher and Head of the Dispatching Service. In recent years, Oleksii Brekht was responsible for the operation, restoration, protection, and development of the transmission system network. In 2024–2025, he served as Acting Chairman of the Management Board of the company.
We will miss Oleksii Brekht deeply. His experience, energy, and willingness to advise and help always supported us in the most difficult times. His ability to find unconventional solutions to the most complex challenges was a constant source of inspiration.
