Resilience centers help elderly Donetsk residents overcome the difficulties of wartime

Published 01 January 2026 year, 12:01

The Ministry of Social Policy is continuing to implement a project as part of the All-Ukrainian Mental Health Program "How Are You?" initiated by First Lady Olena Zelenska.

This project involves the creation of Resilience Centers in communities, where everyone can receive psychosocial support free of charge.

The Dobropillia, Pokrovsk, Mangush, Nikolsk, and Sartansk territorial communities have become participants in a pilot project to introduce comprehensive social services for building resilience and continue to provide these services. At the same time, the communities are cooperating with charitable and public organizations to provide social services within the region and beyond.

The communities of Donetsk region have established five resilience centers, four of which provide comprehensive social services to evacuated residents of Donetsk region to build resilience outside the region, in the cities of Kyiv, Lviv, and Dnipro.

Last year, 202 joint evenings/meetings were held at resilience centers with older visitors to share experiences, attended by 981 older people.

These meetings help our senior citizens overcome the difficulties of wartime, integrate into their host communities, and maintain ties with Donetsk Oblast.

Our Resilience Centers are friendly, barrier-free spaces where every community member can seek support from a psychologist or consult with a social worker.

We invite all Donetsk residents to visit their nearest Resilience Center and receive comprehensive social services to build resilience.

The addresses and opening hours of your nearest Resilience Center can be found here.
