In keeping with tradition, representatives of the Donetsk region's sports community celebrated Defenders of Ukraine Day and World Walking Day by climbing Mount Hoverla.
This year, more than 40 people took part in the event. The group expedition included Volodymyr Mytsyk, head of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration; Serhiy Golovchenko, director of the Donetsk regional center for physical health of population “Sport for all”; employees of the regional center “Sport for All” and other municipal sports institutions of Donetsk oblast, heads of local centers “Sport for All” of Donetsk region, representatives of hubs and public organizations.
Together, step by step, they walked along the steep sections of the route, supporting each other and keeping a common pace. The weather tested their endurance: difficult climbing conditions, gusty winds, snow – all of this required maximum concentration.
Hoverla is not just 2,061 meters high. It is a symbol of the path that representatives of the Donetsk region's sports community travel together every day: in sports, in communities, in the life of the country.
Since 2022, climbing Hoverla has become a good tradition for the Donetsk region sports enthusiasts: every year they climb the highest peak in Ukraine, honoring Defenders of Ukraine Day and World Walking Day. The tradition continues and brings together more and more fans of sports and active life.
The event is organized by the Donetsk regional center for physical health of population “Sport for all” with the support of the Department of physical culture and sports of the Donetsk regional state administration.
