The NASA Space Apps Challenge is an international hackathon that brings together people with diverse knowledge, skills, and experience to find solutions related to Earth and space.
Drohobych and Donetsk National Technical University have officially become the third location in Ukraine (along with Kyiv and Dnipro) to host the NASA space hackathon.
During the hackathon, participants work with NASA’s open data, explore challenges, generate ideas, and create their own projects.
Importantly, participants don’t have to be programmers or space experts! Above all, what’s needed is curiosity, teamwork, creativity, and a willingness to seek out unconventional solutions.
Are you good at design? Do you have unconventional ideas? Do you enjoy analyzing, researching, and finding answers? Are you interested in technology? Can you present your ideas and persuade others?
All of these qualities can be an asset to the team. After all, the most interesting solutions emerge where different perspectives, experiences, and skills come together.
There’s just over a month left until the hackathon officially begins, so hurry up and register!
High school students aged 14 and older, college students, and anyone else interested can join the project. You can form a team of up to 6 members. We recommend putting together a team of people with diverse skill sets.
Participants under 18 years of age must provide written parental consent.
The hackathon will take place on November 14–15, 2026, in a hybrid format: online or in person at Donetsk National Technical University in Drohobych. Participation is free.
To join, you must register on the official NASA Space Apps Challenge website in Drohobych: https://nasa.donntu.edu.ua/
Your idea could be the start of global change.
Because when knowledge, initiative, and opportunities come together, solutions are born that can reach far beyond the city limits.
Even into space!
