To mark Ukrainian Statehood Day, the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History organised a cultural and educational event entitled ‘The strength of the state lies in our hands’. This creative initiative took place as part of the ‘Marathon of Good Deeds’, with the support of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, and was aimed at supporting children from the Donetsk region who are currently on a rest and recuperation holiday at the ‘Pearl of Donetsk Region’ Regional Children’s and Youth Sanatorium and Health Resort in the Carpathians.

Today, when our children are so in need of peace of mind, it is vitally important to warm their hearts with kindness. That is why this creative gathering became a true haven of safety and comfort for the children, where they could communicate openly, share their feelings and feel part of a great and strong Ukraine. The event also helped the children to uncover their hidden talents and believe in their own abilities.

The children expressed their vision of a strong and independent Ukraine using 3D pens. This tool turned the creative process into a unique form of art therapy. In the children’s hands, the images most important to every Ukrainian came to life: the Coat of Arms of Ukraine and blue-and-yellow hearts. The participants used modelling clay to create maps of our indivisible Motherland, delicate viburnum and bright sunflowers. The children’s works were also adorned with doves, symbolising our shared dream of peace, and touching little hands of unity, embodying the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.

The event served as an effective platform for teamwork, mutual support and active discussion of shared values.
