On May 25, the Donetsk Cultural Hub held an important educational initiative - a screening of the Barrier-Free Literacy series. This project consists of a series of short but informative videos. It helps to understand that barrier-free is an environment where everyone, regardless of their characteristics, age, or life circumstances, can fully participate in society. It is about respecting diversity, overcoming prejudice, and creating a culture where everyone feels accepted and has equal opportunities.

The event was held as part of the National Barrier-Free Week, which is being implemented as part of the strategy for creating a barrier-free space in Ukraine at the initiative of the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.

This time, the Donetsk Cultural Hub became a special space that dissolved any internal barriers, inviting each visitor to immerse themselves and fully unleash their creative potential.

Under the guidance of art therapists Yulia Zhdanovych and Natalia Malevich, the participants of the intensive explored the palette of their own feelings. The art therapy event for adults began with the creation of wall clocks using the decoupage technique. Using paints, patterned napkins, structural pastes, decorative elements and clockwork, the visitors created their own products. This is one of the most effective methods of rehabilitation, which has no contraindications and restrictions, and allows you to express your inner world through creativity, working on the theme of the passage of time, personal resources, boundaries and changes.

Next, an art therapy event for children was held, where various artistic techniques were used: painting with acrylic paints, applique, collage, texture materials, cereals, modeling dough, which helped children create their own paintings. Art therapy was aimed at developing emotional intelligence, imagination, communication skills, and the ability to express themselves.

Illustrator, designer, and caricaturist Denis Dreyman also held a fascinating doodle art session for children, which helps to get rid of negative thoughts, memorize effectively, find creative solutions, develop creative thinking, and calms them down.

And thanks to Katiko's music lessons, each participant, regardless of their abilities, was able to express themselves freely through music, feeling harmony and unity.

Barrier-free is when you can be a part of society, participate in public life on an equal footing. When your opinions are important, regardless of whether you speak out loud, with gestures or through a screen.
