The Mangush School of Arts held an online event to celebrate Music and Ukrainian Song Day, which took place as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”
The event brought together students, teachers, and representatives of arts institutions from various regions of Ukraine. Despite the distance, they gathered in a single virtual space that day to speak together through the language of music and Ukrainian song.
At the beginning of the event, Svitlana Lutsenko, deputy head of the Mangush Settlement Military Administration, addressed the audience with a welcome speech. She wished the participants creative success and emphasized the importance of preserving cultural ties and developing cooperation between communities.
The following groups participated in the musical gathering:
🎵 Solotvyno School of Arts in the Tyachiv District;
🎵 The “Lybid” Exemplary Amateur Dance Ensemble of the Chyhyryn City Council’s Center for Culture, Leisure, and Sports;
🎵 The Lyman Municipal Institution of Art and Culture of the Odesa Region;
🎵 The “Sloviansk School of Arts,” a municipal specialized elementary arts school.
From Donetsk Oblast to Zakarpattia, from central Ukraine to the south—the geographic diversity of the participants once again demonstrated how community partnerships can thrive in the cultural and artistic spheres. Children and teachers had the opportunity to showcase their creative work, watch performances by other groups, socialize, and deepen connections between artistic institutions.
For the Mangush community, which is currently operating far from home due to the temporary occupation, it is especially important to preserve its own cultural space. The Mangush School of Arts continues to educate children, uphold the community’s creative traditions, and find new partners in various parts of Ukraine.
The event concluded with a joint performance of the song “Oy u luzi chervona kalyna” (“Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow”), sung together by participants from different communities.
The Mangush community extends its gratitude to the students, teachers, and partner communities who took part in the event. It is through such joint events that the “Side by Side: United Communities” project takes on real meaning—through new acquaintances, cooperation, and new connections between communities.
