The government has simplified the process of obtaining status and certificates for veterans and the families of fallen defenders

🔹 The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution drafted by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine that simplifies the process of obtaining the status of a person with a war-related disability and of a family member of a fallen (deceased) Defender of Ukraine, as well as the issuance of veteran ID cards.

These changes will help make these procedures simpler, faster, and more convenient for veterans and the families of the fallen.

🔹 What will change—according to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs:

  • In the application for the status of a person with a war-related disability or a family member of a fallen (deceased) Defender of Ukraine, it will be possible to immediately indicate the desire to receive a paper veteran ID card. This will also apply to applications submitted electronically;
  • Restrictions on the format for submitting an extract from the “Record of Information on Criminal Prosecution and Criminal Convictions” information and analytical system will be removed;
  • Family members of fallen (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine will be able to submit applications for status through the Administrative Service Center in electronic form regardless of their declared or registered place of residence or stay;
  • The list of documents required to establish the status of a family member of a fallen (deceased) Defender of Ukraine is supplemented by a copy of the minutes of the meeting of the regular military medical commission. If necessary, this document may be requested by the local department responsible for veteran policy;
  • The grounds for granting status to family members of individuals who have been declared missing, presumed dead, or whose death has been legally established by a court decision are clarified. In such cases, it will no longer be necessary to undergo a military medical examination—the relevant court decision will serve as the basis for granting status.

🔹 The adopted changes are intended to make the process of obtaining statuses and certificates more accessible and understandable for veterans and the families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine.
