On December 17, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution developed by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine, which defines the mechanism for assigning and paying monetary compensation for the conversion of passenger cars for use by persons with disabilities and persons with limitations in their daily functioning.
Compensation is provided in the amount of the actual costs incurred for the conversion of the vehicle, but does not exceed 50,000 hryvnia.
Applications for compensation can be submitted within three months from the date of state registration of the converted vehicle. Applications are accepted by the territorial branches of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities. It is also possible to submit an application through the electronic office of a person with a disability on the Social Web Portal of Electronic Services of the Ministry of Social Policy or through the Unified State Web Portal of Electronic Services (the "Dія" portal).
People with disabilities who have not previously received such payments under other budget programs, or if more than seven years have passed since the previous compensation, are eligible for compensation. Repeated compensation may be granted in the event of loss of a car as a result of hostilities or when converting another vehicle acquired into property, but not earlier than seven years after receiving the previous payment.
Compensation is awarded and paid from the funds of the relevant budget program in the order in which applications are submitted. The decision is made by the territorial branch of the Social Protection Fund for Persons with Disabilities after verification of the submitted documents and data from state registers.
