The final of the XXII International Competition of Creative Works by Pupils, Students, Postgraduates, and Teachers "Lessons of War and the Holocaust - Lessons of Tolerance" took place in Chernivtsi. For more than two decades, this competition has brought together talented participants who, through the prism of historical research and their own creative projects, comprehend the tragic pages of the past and draw parallels with the present.
Donetsk region was represented in the final by two contestants who proved themselves worthy and demonstrated a deep understanding of the topic.
Among the students, Bianka Chala, a 9th grade student of Bilytsia Secondary School No. 10 of Dobropole City Council, made it to the final stage (her supervisor is Lilia Denisova, Deputy Director for Academic Affairs, teacher of history and law). The student presented a creative work - a video monologue/documentary drama "I am the one whom they forgot to mention..." and won the honorable second place. Her supervisor was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her training.
Among the teachers, Donetsk region was represented by Alina Denysova, a history teacher at the Dobropillia Educational Complex "Gymnasium - Secondary School No. 1". She took first place with her historical story, in which she reinterpreted the events of the past through a fictional narrative and drew parallels with the present.
The participation of representatives of Donetsk region in the final of the competition is important because such projects help young people and teachers to comprehend the tragic lessons of history, to form the values of humanity, mutual respect, and tolerance, which are especially relevant in the context of modern challenges for Ukraine.
