"I congratulated our police officers on the Day of Defenders of Ukraine — both those who carry out combat missions as part of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, and those who ensure law and order in our war-torn region.
Sixty officers received state, departmental, and regional awards. I had the honor to present the ‘Defender of Donetsk Region’ and ‘Badge of Honor’ insignias, awards of the Head of the Donetsk Regional Defense Council, as well as certificates of appreciation from the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
To serve in the police is a great honor and a great responsibility, even in peacetime. And during a full-scale war — the responsibility is a hundredfold greater.
Over the three and a half years of full-scale war, 38 police officers have been killed in the line of duty, and another 409 have been wounded.
