The Head of Donetsk Region, Vadym Filashkin, participated in a meeting of the Barrier-Free Council chaired by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.
The meeting was also attended by Oleksii Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery and Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine; Tetiana Berezhna, Vice Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture of Ukraine; and First Lady Olena Zelenska.
The participants discussed the implementation of numerous flagship barrier-free initiatives launched at the ministerial level. Representatives of local governments and state authorities shared their experiences of implementing such projects at the regional level.
In Donetsk region, 119 activities are planned for 2025–2026 to implement the National Strategy for Creating a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine. Although some of them cannot be completed due to ongoing hostilities, the region continues to move in this direction and demonstrates solid progress — especially given the current security conditions.
“Barrier-free development is a long and challenging journey, but it is critically important to ensure that every Ukrainian can live a full life,” - emphasized Vadym Filashkin.
