Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, met with Caroline Billing, UNHCR Representative in Ukraine, and expressed his sincere gratitude for the extraordinary support of Donetsk region and Ukraine.
Ms. Caroline is completing her work in Ukraine - her tenure has been the most difficult in the country's modern history. However, the team under her leadership has coped with all the challenges brilliantly.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, under her leadership, hundreds of thousands of residents of Donetsk region have received humanitarian assistance from UNHCR, and the total amount of assistance to Ukraine has reached USD 1.6 billion.
"My undivided respect and gratitude to you, Ms. Caroline, for being with Donetsk region and Ukraine in difficult times!" - said Vadym Filashkin during the meeting.
The meeting was an important step in establishing and continuing an effective mechanism of cooperation between the regional authorities and international humanitarian organizations. As a result of the dialogue, an agreement was reached to continue working together to provide assistance to the population affected by the hostilities.
