The head of Donetsk region Vadym Filashkin met with athletes and coaches of Donetsk region - champions and winners of international competitions.
In 2025, representatives of Donetsk region have already won 1523 medals at Ukrainian championships and cups and 344 medals at international competitions. At the same time, 93 athletes and sports professionals have joined the defense of Ukraine, including wounded, captured and killed. The meeting honored the memory of all the Heroes with a minute of silence.
Despite the hardships of war and destruction - 77 sports facilities in the region have been destroyed by the enemy - we are proud of our champions and support them. It is the athletes of Donetsk Oblast who continue to raise the sporting profile of Ukraine in the world.
80 athletes and 30 coaches receive monthly regional scholarships. Since the beginning of the year, 22 athletes-instructors of the regional reserve sports team have been paid official salaries. This year, 27 athletes and 19 coaches received cash awards for their highest achievements in international arenas totaling UAH 3.3 million.
"Sports and physical culture are not only competitions and victories, but also the basis of the nation's health, education of young people, formation of patriotism and team spirit. The pride of our region is talented athletes who represent Donetsk region with dignity on national and international arenas. I believe that together we will win the main victory - the Victory of Ukraine!" said Vadym Fishashkin.
