The Head of Donetsk Oblast, together with the Acting Chief of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Donetsk Oblast, Yaroslav Mezhennyi, met with a delegation of law enforcement officers from the Republic of Latvia, headed by the Chief of the State Police of Latvia, Armands Ruks.
“We discussed the work of the Donetsk police, our cooperation with law enforcement agencies, the defense of the region, and the evacuation of the civilian population.
Under enemy fire, shelling, day and night, Donetsk police officers rescue people, provide first aid to the wounded, destroy enemy drones, and, shoulder to shoulder with the Defense Forces, repel the invaders on the front line. It can be confidently stated that over the years of the war, the Ukrainian police have become one of the most experienced, brave, and daring law enforcement units in the world.
It is extremely important that Ukraine’s international partners pay significant attention to law enforcement officers in Donetsk Oblast.
Our police officers presented their colleagues with experience gained while working in wartime conditions, including the activities of the unique evacuation unit ‘White Angel,’ paramedics, the rifle battalion, and anti-drone groups.
Armands Ruks noted the courage of Ukrainian police officers and their high level of professionalism.
I am confident that this meeting will become an important step toward strengthening partnerships for the sake of global security, and that the experience of our police officers will be useful and of great interest to all our friends in Europe and around the world,” Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
