"The time will come, and we will return here in a different composition and in a different quality, and you will not be forgiven" – this was promised to the occupiers by Vasyl Kostyantynovych Savin on the day of liberation from captivity.

The former head of the executive committee of Makiyivka, a deputy of the Donetsk Regional Council, Vasyl Savin, without hesitation, took the side of Ukraine at the beginning of 2014, fighting against separatists and Russian occupiers.

In February 2015, he ended up in the torture chamber of the so-called DNR, where, by the decision of a pseudo-court, he was to spend 35 years behind bars, but he endured all the torture and humiliation with honor and returned from captivity after 5 years.

The promise he made to the occupiers was not forgotten by Vasyl Savin: he is now an officer of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, commanding fighters in one of the most challenging sections of the combat confrontation line.

Vasyl Savin's deed has been duly recognized at the highest level: after his release, he had an audience with the President of Ukraine, and recently Captain Savin was awarded a rare distinction – "For Resilience." This badge is awarded to those servicemen who have returned from captivity, having endured all trials with dignity, and have once again joined the ranks of Ukraine's defenders.

This is not the only award for Vasyl Kostyantynovych, but he takes special pride in it. And he is confident: he will definitely return to his native city with victory!
