On August 4, an offline/online meeting titled “Reintegration of Veterans, Adaptation to Civilian Life, and Employment Support. Our Opportunities and Prospects” was held in Kramatorsk. The event brought together veterans, their family members, and representatives of institutions working to build an effective support system for defenders returning to civilian life.
In her speech, acting director of the Donetsk Regional Employment Center, Nataliya Adamova, presented programs aimed at supporting veterans — including vocational training and retraining funded by the state, grants for starting or developing a business, and cooperation with employers who create job opportunities and employ veterans.
“The Employment Service is a space of opportunities. We help veterans not just find a job, but start a new chapter in life — one where they can apply their experience, skills, and ambitions. It could mean a new profession, their own business, or career growth in a new setting,” emphasized Ms. Adamova.
Also joining the meeting was Acting Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine in Donetsk Region, Colonel of Civil Protection Service Oleksii Samisko. He presented SES job openings that may be of interest to veterans and emphasized the high value of military experience, discipline, and teamwork in civil service.
Anna Humeniuk, Deputy Head of the Center and Head of the Psychological Support Department at the SES Activity Support Center in Donetsk Region, spoke about psychological support for wounded veterans and their families. She shared useful support resources and offered advice for managing stress.
Tetiana Zhemha, Head of the Rivne branch of the German prosthetics center Prosthetics.PRO, discussed free prosthetics services for veterans and civilians in Ukraine, modern technologies, and support during the adaptation process.
The meeting became a space of trust and collaboration. Veterans received answers to their questions, learned about real tools for support, and found out where to turn for specific help.
The Donetsk Regional Employment Service remains committed to supporting everyone seeking their path in civilian life by offering help with employment, training, and starting their own business.
