On January 15, 2026, the Donetsk Regional Ecological and Naturalistic Center held an online meeting of the Donetsk Region Children's Environmental Parliament.

Sixty-eight representatives of schoolchildren from local communities in the region participated in the first meeting of the new year.

The event aimed to foster an active civic stance among students in the field of environmental protection.

During the meeting, participants discussed the topic "Scientific Workshop — Environmental Event. Nature as a space for action, not just admiration," and discussed modern approaches to environmental activities and the role of young people in implementing nature conservation initiatives.

During the meeting, participants learned about modern scientific approaches to solving environmental problems, in particular the basics of biomimicry as an innovative direction of sustainable development, which involves the use of natural mechanisms in the design of technological solutions. They looked at examples of biomimicry in architecture, energy, eco-design, and urban planning.

Special attention was paid to the implementation of environmental practices in everyday activities and the role of young people in the implementation of environmental initiatives. The event featured presentations on eco-volunteering activities that promote a responsible attitude towards the environment and the development of an environmental culture among schoolchildren.

Based on the results of an online survey of participants, priority areas for further work were identified and a draft resolution and Eco-Charter of the Donetsk Region Children's Environmental Parliament were developed.

The meeting was part of the DOENC's systematic work to foster environmentally conscious youth in the context of remote interaction.
