The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine hosted an all-Ukrainian roundtable discussion "With Ukraine in the Heart: Christian Values in Education," organized by the inter-factional parliamentary association "For Christian Values."
The event brought together educators, scholars, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, clergy, public figures, MPs, and youth.
Svitlana Hara, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Methodological Work of the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education, PhD in Pedagogy, joined the meeting.
They talked about the role of education in the formation of patriotism and spirituality, the state of spiritual and moral education, teaching of spiritual and moral subjects, and the mission of the teacher as a carrier of values in society.
All those present supported the draft resolution with practical recommendations for the development of educational policy based on Christian values. The document envisages legislative changes, information campaigns, support for schools, and strengthening of educational integrity, as spiritual and moral education forms a generation of citizens with high moral values and love for the Motherland.
