The Donetsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth Creativity continues to introduce you to inspiring Ukrainians. This issue is dedicated to Oleksa Tykhyi.
He was a man who worked for his people to live, for his native Donetsk region to produce Ukrainian patriotic specialists, writers, knowledgeable teachers, Ukrainian composers and actors who were faithful to their native language. He actively fought for the right of the Donetsk region to remain Ukrainian-for the language, culture, and dignity of the people of his land who did not submit to the totalitarian regime.
His name is included in the list of 15 people in the Unbreakable project, which was recognized at the state level. His glorious figure is an example of a human rights activist, political prisoner of the Soviet regime, poet, linguist, teacher, member of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group, who, having gone through the horrific torture chambers of terror, was able to realize himself as a true Ukrainian.
Streets in many Ukrainian cities and towns are named in his honor. Oleksa Tykhyi Avenue connects five cities in Donetsk Oblast: Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, Druzhkivka, Oleksiyevo-Druzhkivka and Kostiantynivka.
We invite you to watch the VIII issue of the media magazine "Oleksa Tykhyi: Language is the People".
