War is not an abstraction.
It has motives—no matter how hard the aggressor tries to obscure them. It has laws—both written and unwritten. It has a chronology and a history that are currently clear to everyone, but which will ultimately be defined by the victor.
And it also has faces. The faces of those who were forced to respond to the aggressor’s veiled motives; those who were forced to accept new laws; those who are now writing history through their actions.
