Eight athletes from Donetsk region will represent Ukraine at the World Games in China

From August 7 to 17, the Chinese city of Chengdu will host the XII World Games, the main non-Olympic sports competition that traditionally takes place the year after the Olympics and Paralympics. The tournament will bring together over 3,500 athletes from more than 100 countries.

Ukraine will be represented at the Games by a team of 99 athletes who will compete in 15 non-Olympic and 5 Olympic disciplines. The Ukrainian team includes 8 athletes from Donetsk region in two sports.

Vladislav Rudnev, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, five-time world champion and four-time European champion, will represent Donetsk Oblast in sambo wrestling.

Seven athletes from Donetsk Oblast will compete in powerlifting:

  • Oleksii Bychkov, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine and Honored Coach of Ukraine, 2022 World Games champion, eight-time winner of the World Men's Powerlifting Championships, world record holder;
  • Volodymyr Ryev - Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, winner of the 2022 World Games, multiple world and European champion, world record holder;
  • Anastasia Derevyanko - Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, bronze medalist of the 2022 World Games, winner of a number of world and European championships;
  • Konstantin Musienko - Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, multiple world and European champion, world record holder;
  • Daria Rusanenko - international master of sports of Ukraine, winner and medalist of the world and European championships, world record holder;
  • Andriy Shevchenko - international master of sports of Ukraine, winner of the World and European championships;
  • Valentyna Zagoruyko - international master of sports of Ukraine, winner of a number of awards at European and world championships.

The World Games in China will feature 262 sets of awards in 41 sports. Let's cheer for Ukrainian athletes together!
