On July 30, a regular meeting of the commission for selecting candidates for scholarships for athletes and coaches of Donetsk region was held. The event was chaired by Igor Boiko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, and Volodymyr Mytsyk, Head of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Regional State Administration.

The heads of physical culture and sports institutions joined the meeting online.

"The achievements of athletes and coaches from Donetsk region at international competitions create a positive image of both our region and Ukraine as a whole, so the regional administration constantly supports the sports elite on their way to new achievements and victories. Every year, we award monthly regional scholarships to the most successful and promising athletes in recognition of their hard work, talent, strength of spirit, and resilience," emphasized Igor Boiko.

Volodymyr Mytsyk noted that from January 1, 2025, regional scholarships ranging from 2 to 8 minimum subsistence levels were established for 80 athletes and 30 coaches in Olympic, non-Olympic sports, and sports for people with disabilities. However, under certain conditions, according to the Regulations, changes may be made to the approved list. Reasons for deprivation of scholarships include violation of the training process, non-compliance with anti-doping standards, failure to fulfill an individual training plan, termination of performances for the Donetsk region, or disqualification.

The meeting participants considered the candidates for scholarships from among those previously included in the reserve list. As a result of detailed discussion, they supported the inclusion of one athlete and one coach in this list.

The Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Donetsk Regional State Administration will continue to monitor the compliance of regional scholarship recipients with the provisions of the Regulations throughout the year. Meetings of the commission for the selection of candidates for scholarships for athletes and coaches in the Donetsk region are held as needed. In the event of a decline in sports results, violation of anti-doping legislation, or failure to comply with an individual training plan, which will be identified through monthly monitoring, replacements will be made to the list of scholarship recipients from among those included in the reserve list.
