December 3 is a date that reminds the world of the importance of inclusion and support. Every year on December 3, Ukraine, together with the global community, celebrates International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
For 84 children from the Druzhkivka Children's Home, who have found temporary refuge in the Kingdom of Spain, this day has become a symbol of hope, care, and an unbreakable bond with their homeland.
Due to the escalation of military actions related to the Russian Federation's aggression, preserving the lives and health of the residents of the Druzhkivka Children's Home became a priority. As part of the evacuation, 84 children were transported to the Kingdom of Spain, where they continue to receive the necessary assistance and care.
It was there, far from their native Donetsk region, that a warm festive event was organized for the children on December 3. The event was marked by the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.
The children sang Ukrainian songs and took part in exciting creative workshops. Games and various activities brought many smiles and joy to the children.
Despite being far from home, our pupils feel constant support, care, and an unbreakable connection to their roots. Thanks to the joint efforts of the Ukrainian administration and Spanish friends, an atmosphere of joy and love is created for the children.
No matter where our pupils are geographically, they have opportunities to be full members of society, capable of self-realization and a decent standard of living.
We are proud of our pupils, who, overcoming difficulties, show exceptional strength of spirit and unshakable faith in life. We look forward to their speedy return home.
We express our sincere gratitude to the Kingdom of Spain, the country that has taken in our residents, its citizens, and volunteer organizations for their invaluable assistance and humanity.
