“Zhuravushka” is a family business run by the Zhuravlovs, a couple from the village of Pereizne in the Bakhmut district, where the family opened their first store in 2007. Four stores operated under this name in various towns: Pereizne, Fedorivka, Soledar, and Siversk.
The story of “Zhuravushka” is told by the media portal Bakhmut IN.UA.
“Zhuravushka” operated until 2022. The store’s owner, Lyudmila Zhuravleva, continued to bring in goods and keep the business running until the very end. Neither power outages nor the difficulty of delivering goods could stop the entrepreneur. Lyudmila Zhuravleva decided to close the store and leave her native village after enduring shelling.
Over the years, “Zhuravushka” earned the deep trust of the community. And today, residents of the Bakhmut district fondly remember their favorite store. The owner says there is no special secret to her success. She simply loved her work very much and tried to listen to her customers.
The business that the Zhuravlev family built in Donetsk Oblast has been destroyed. While they still had the chance, the family managed to move some of their equipment to Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where they have since relocated.
In July 2022, the family finally moved to Pereshchepyne in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Just a few weeks later, with the help of people they had previously worked with in the Donetsk region, they opened their first store there. They didn’t change the name; the store is still called “Zhuravushka.” Lyudmila Zhuravleva says she deliberately kept the name because she wants to maintain a connection to home. In this store, the entrepreneur displayed signs, banners, and equipment from Donetsk Oblast, and stocked it with the same assortment of goods found in her former stores.
The business owner notes that the work of rebuilding her business helped her not to give up after losing her home and moving. And what is especially valuable to her is that there are people in the new location who knew “Zhuravushka” back in Donetsk Oblast.
The store in Pereshchepyne is not the only one the Zhuravlov family has opened in their new location. They already have four stores in the Dnipropetrovsk region: three in Pereshchepyne and another in Pidhorodne.
The Ukrainian people are hardworking and unbreakable.
