From July 31 to August 2, the European Para Rowing Championships for athletes with musculoskeletal disorders took place in Varese, Italy.
Two honored masters of sports represented the Donetsk region as members of the Ukrainian Paralympic team.
Iaroslav Koiuda from Sloviansk, competing in the PR2 Mix2x mixed pairs class alongside Anna Aisanova from the Volyn region, won silver medals. In the preliminary heat, the Ukrainian crew clocked a time of 8 minutes 20.74 seconds, and in the final, covering the distance in 8 minutes 04.24 seconds, they finished ahead of the teams from Israel, France and Italy. Only the German team finished ahead of them.
Roman Polianskyi, representing Bakhmut, competed in the men’s PR1M1x class – a single-crew event – and posted the third-fastest time, putting him in contention for the bronze medal. However, due to a technical violation, his result was disqualified and he was placed last in Final A – sixth place.
