The finals of the All-Ukrainian ISEF Ukraine competition—the national selection process for the world’s most prestigious exhibition of student science and engineering projects, the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), held in the United States—took place in Kyiv for the first time.
The competition was organized by the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which received official ISEF affiliation in 2025. From now on, ISEF Ukraine is the sole official national selection process for Ukrainian students to participate in this international competition.
Every year, ISEF brings together winners of national and regional competitions from dozens of countries around the world. It is a unique platform where students present their own research, exchange ideas, and compete for international awards, scholarships, and educational grants.
In the 2026 finals, 105 students from across Ukraine presented their projects in 22 scientific categories—ranging from biomedicine and microbiology to robotics, programming, and mathematical modeling. The event took place at the UNIT.City innovation park.
Among the finalists were four talented students from the Donetsk region, who represented their region with distinction and achieved outstanding results.
In the “Embedded Systems” category, Nikita Litvin, a 9th-grade student at Lyceum No. 2 of the Pokrovsk City Council in the Donetsk region, received a first-place diploma.
In the “System Software” category, Mykyta Telichko, an 11th-grade student at the same lyceum, received a first-place diploma, while Dmytro Fil, a 9th-grade student, received a second-place diploma.
In the “Behavioral and Social Sciences” category Veronika Sabitova, an 11th-grade student at the Zhelanivsky Educational Complex—a public institution comprising a general education school (grades 1–12) and a preschool under the Ocheretynska Settlement Military-Civil Administration in the Pokrovsk District of Donetsk Oblast—received a third-degree diploma.
These achievements were made possible thanks to the hard work of the students themselves, the professionalism of their teachers and mentors, and the constant support of their parents. The municipal extracurricular educational institution “Donetsk Regional Junior Academy of Sciences for Schoolchildren” also plays a significant role in preparing these young researchers.
Next up is the announcement of the results and the formation of the team that will represent Ukraine at the ISEF World Finals in Phoenix (USA). Donetsk Oblast is confidently establishing itself as a region of strong, talented, and promising young scientists.
