On February 20, Ukraine bows its head in memory of those who changed the course of our history. This year's events are held under the slogan "Heroes of the first victory in the ongoing battle," reminding us that the path to freedom began on the Maidan.

The staff and residents of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School, who have currently found refuge in Poltava Oblast due to relocation, did not remain on the sidelines of this memorable date. For people who have seen the horrors of war with their own eyes and were forced to leave their homes, the concept of "the price of freedom" has a special, painful meaning.

The program of events was rich and moving. Each event was an opportunity to once again thank those who stood up for Ukraine's democratic choice:

Honoring at the Walk of Fame. Representatives of the institution visited the burial site of the Defenders in the city of Hadyach. Laying flowers and lighting lamps became a symbol of living memory that unites different corners of Ukraine — from Bakhmut to Poltava.

Silent action "Angels of Memory." The wards joined the global initiative by decorating tree branches with paper angels. These white wings symbolize the souls of the dead who continue to protect our country from heaven.

Historical excursion "Heavenly Hundred — eternal guardians of freedom." During the event, attendees recalled the chronology of the Revolution of Dignity, watched archival video footage, and discussed why those events became the foundation of our current resistance.

Far from home, the community of the Bakhmut boarding school maintains an unbreakable spirit. The belief that every resident will be able to return to their homes gives them the strength to keep working.

We believe that peace will soon come to Ukraine. Today, everyone in their own place—through words, deeds, or prayers—is bringing this great victory closer.

We remember the past. We are creating the future. Everything will be Ukraine!
