Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), with the assistance of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), have completed a special pre-trial investigation into a former head of the public relations sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine on the Donetsk Railway, who after the occupation of the region defected to the enemy and engaged in information support for terrorists. The indictment has been sent to court.
Investigators established that after 2015 the former police lieutenant colonel returned to temporarily occupied Donetsk. Later, she passed a so-called “interview” with the militants and was appointed “press secretary of the general prosecutor’s office of the DPR.”
In this position, the woman effectively served as an information mouthpiece for the occupation administration. She prepared and disseminated media materials aimed at discrediting Ukraine and justifying the actions of the occupiers. In particular, through online resources she called on residents to submit “online complaints” against the Ukrainian authorities and law enforcement agencies, and informed the public about fake decisions of a pseudo-court regarding the “recognition of the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine as extremist organizations.”
In addition, in 2022 she actively spread messages about the so-called “general mobilization” in the temporarily occupied territory and the alleged “liability” for evading service in the ranks of terrorist formations.
The woman is charged with participation in a terrorist organization (Part 1 of Article 258-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention in custody. The sanction of the article provides for up to 15 years of imprisonment, with or without confiscation of property.
Procedural supervision is carried out by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
