The Donetsk Regional Military Administration, in coordination with the Memorial: Killed by Russia platform, honored the memory of 61-year-old dentist Igor Alimpiyev, who was killed by the Russian army in Mariupol on March 27, 2022.
Born and raised in Mariupol, Igor graduated from Donetsk National Medical University and practiced dentistry continuously since 1983.
Served as a highest-category dentist-therapist at the "Adastra" Medical Center, highly regarded by patients who called him a "doctor-artist".
Remembered by relatives as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as well as an avid hunter and angler.
During the full-scale invasion, Igor successfully evacuated from Mariupol to Zaporizhzhia, helping transport several other residents to safety.
He voluntarily returned to besieged Mariupol to locate and rescue his son. He managed to reach the area near the "1000 Dribnyts" store on Budivelnykiv Avenue where his son was located.
As they were running toward a vehicle on Budivelnykiv Avenue, a Russian tank opened fire towards Myru Avenue. Igor was struck by shrapnel and killed instantly on March 27, 2022.
He was laid to rest at the Staryi Krym Cemetery.
Igor Alimpiyev is survived by his wife, sons, grandchildren, and extended family.
At 09:00 AM, a nationwide minute of silence is observed across Ukraine to honor all civilian victims and defenders.
