55-year-old Valerii Raizov was killed in Mariupol on March 13, 2022, when a Russian aerial bomb struck a house on Shevchenko Lane. The entire family had gathered under one roof — along with him, his in-laws, young grandson, and other relatives were killed.
Valerii worked as a security guard at the Azov Ship Repair Plant and later at the “Neptun” swimming pool. He loved fishing, the sea, and the simple joys of life. He is remembered as a kind, open, and hardworking man who deeply loved his family.
His relatives recall a story: a week before the invasion, he bought his grandson two hamsters — one white and one black. The white one survived the explosion but died nine days after the family was killed. They say it may not be a coincidence.
Valerii is survived by his wife, his son and daughter-in-law, his mother, brother, sister, and a granddaughter who was born after his death.
