Nationwide minute of silence

Published 05 March 2026 year, 09:00

Yevhen Myrhorodskyi was killed in Kramatorsk on February 9, 2025, as a result of an enemy airstrike on a residential building.

He was a physical education teacher and was named Best Teacher of 2023.

Yevhen practiced judo, sambo, hand-to-hand combat, and Chinese gymnastics. He worked at Kramatorsk Secondary School No. 23 and later at School No. 11.

He founded the “Running Enthusiasts” club and organized running events in the city’s parks. Yevhen was active and deeply engaged in community life. He also administered the Facebook community “Native Kramatorsk.” He truly loved his city.

“I want the city to prosper and for people to be proud of it. Someone who loves this city would never destroy it, harm it, or ruin it... They may die for the city, for its peace and well-being, but never the other way around. Kramatorsk is our home, and nothing can change that. Let our beloved city of Kramatorsk flourish!” Yevhen wrote on social media.

“He was genuine in everything he did and lived for, possessing boundless love and dedication to sport and his profession. He was always proud not only of his own achievements but also of the successes of his students. He did not leave the city during the occupation in 2014 and continued working and helping his hometown during the full-scale invasion. A teacher, a wise mentor, a follower of Far Eastern philosophy and martial arts,” colleagues from Kramatorsk School No. 11 recall.

Yevhen Myrhorodskyi is survived by his family, friends, and colleagues.

At 9:00 a.m. — the nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform “Memorial: Victims of Russia” commemorate residents of Donetsk region killed by Russian forces.
