On March 11, 2022, Lieutenant Pavlo Chumak, call sign Sheriff, was killed in his hometown of Mariupol at the age of 30.
Together with his fellow border guard sailors, he carried out missions to prevent Russian occupation forces and equipment from breaking through into the city. They had to operate under heavy artillery and air strikes. During one of these attacks, Pavlo sustained injuries incompatible with life.
Pavlo was born in Mariupol. While studying at university, he decided to join the State Border Guard Service. He began his service as a junior inspector in the special operations unit and later worked in administrative and legal affairs.
In his free time, Pavlo loved reading and traveling with his family.
Sadly, his family has not yet been able to bury him. Pavlo is survived by his wife and three children.
