Raisa Miroshnychenko was killed in her apartment in Mariupol’s Tsentralnyi District between March 21 and 23, 2022. She was unable to move on her own, and when a fire broke out following Russian shelling, she could not escape her home.
Raisa was 78 years old. She was born and lived in Mariupol. She worked at the Azovmash plant and later at a confectionery factory before retiring. In 2010, she lost her only son, a tragedy that deeply affected her. After that, her health deteriorated significantly.
“I had known Raisa Ivanivna for many years. She was like a mother and a friend to me. She was an honest, kind, compassionate, and decent person. Every time I remember her, it brings tears to my eyes. She had a parrot named Prosha, who affectionately called her ‘Rayechka.’ That’s how all of us knew her. We always helped her with everything. I learned about Raisa’s death from our neighbors because I had been wounded myself at the time and was trying to get to the hospital,” recalled her friend and neighbor, Liudmyla Bodrova.
Raisa is survived by her granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
At 9:00 a.m., Ukraine observes the National Minute of Silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial Platform honor the memory of the residents of Donetsk Region killed by Russian forces.
