The life of 67-year-old Valentyna Maslova was cut short by a Russian strike on Toretsk. On June 26, 2024, the enemy shelled a residential apartment building on Lisna Street. Her husband, Volodymyr, with whom she had shared 44 years of marriage, was also killed in the attack.
Valentyna was born and spent her entire life in Toretsk. She worked as a nurse in the pediatric department of the local hospital. She was loved by both her colleagues and her young patients. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, loved the sea and flowers, and was interested in fashion.
During the full-scale war, Valentyna took care of abandoned cats. Her daughter recalled that her mother cared for 20 animals left behind by their owners. She fed them, treated them, and handed them over to volunteers who helped find them new homes.
Family members and friends remember Valentyna as a beautiful, kind, strong, and wise woman—an optimist who always knew how to care for others.
She is survived by her daughter Inna, her son Serhii, and her granddaughters Yana and Veronika.
