A 31-year-old man, Oleksandr Samofalov, was killed by a Russian missile in the village of Rivne, Pokrovsk district. His wife, mother, children, and nephew were also killed nearby. All of them were trapped under the rubble of the house.
On January 6, 2024, the Russians fired eight missiles at the Pokrovsk district.
Oleksandr was originally from Myrnohrad. He loved cars and worked at a car repair shop. He lived with his family in Rivne. “Sasha was polite, calm, and thoughtful. He loved his wife Dasha and their children very much. He knew cars inside out,” recalls his godmother, Anastasiia Novikova-Mykhailiuk.
Because of the war, the family moved to Kyiv, where Sasha worked at a car service station. His mother remained in Rivne. During the holidays, the family came to visit their relatives. On January 6, they stopped by his mother’s house for just half an hour to greet her and bring kutia. At that moment, a missile struck the house.
Oleksandr Samofalov is survived by his brother and other relatives.
