25-year-old soldier Ihor Medynskyi, call sign Demon, was killed on June 30, 2023, near the village of Rozdolivka in the Bakhmut district. While carrying out his military duties, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of an enemy airstrike. For four months, he was considered missing in action.
Ihor was born in the city of Selydove. He received higher education at the Dnipro University of Technology, majoring in Underground Engineering. However, he dreamed of working in the IT sector. He completed his compulsory military service in the Presidential Regiment. In recent years, he lived in the city of Shakhtarske in Dnipropetrovsk region and worked for Vodafone. He loved playing football and volleyball.
After the start of the full-scale war, the man joined the Territorial Defense Forces, and in August 2022 became a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa. He was a UAV operator. Together with his unit, he defended his native Donetsk region. He was awarded the “Cross of the 54th Brigade” distinction.
“He was a strong, cheerful, and kind person. He always showed initiative, was resilient, fearless, and courageously defended our country until his last breath,” his relatives said.
The defender was buried in his hometown.
Ihor is survived by his parents, brothers, sister, and grandmothers.
