55-year-old Irina Romenska died on September 24, 2023, in her own yard as a result of artillery shelling of the village of Zarichne in the Lyman district. Earlier that same day, her son Vadim was killed before her eyes.
Iryna lived in Zarichne. She worked in the locomotive department of the Slovyansk Railway Company as a 3rd-class switchman. She devoted 27 years to working on the railway.
“Hardworking, decent; she conscientiously performed her professional duties. She was cheerful, interesting, easy to communicate and work with. A good housewife and mother,” her colleagues recalled.
"Vadym and Iryna were kind, hardworking, generous. During difficult times, they took care of elderly people. They worked hard on the land and ran a household. Iryna loved going to the forest and picking mushrooms. Good people do not die; they live on in our hearts. May they rest in peace," wrote Iryna's sister.
