Nina Tyrinova: Remembering a Victim of Russia’s War Against Ukraine.

In the evening of August 22, 2023, the Russian army shelled the village of Torske in the Lyman community of Donetsk region. Nina Tyrinova was killed in the attack, while her daughter, Halyna, was beside her. They were sitting on a bench near their home. An enemy shell exploded just a few meters away from the mother and daughter.

Nina Tyrinova was 88 years old. She was originally from the settlement of Yampil in Kramatorsk District, where she grew up and attended school. She was a child of war. After getting married, she moved to the village of Torske, her husband’s hometown. She worked as a milkmaid at the local collective farm. In the final years of her life, she was retired. She took care of her household and tended her garden and vegetable patch.

“Grandma was our ray of sunshine. She did not deserve such a death,” said Olha, a relative of Nina Tyrinova.

Following Russia’s full-scale invasion, Nina Vasylivna’s family evacuated to Kirovohrad region. She and her daughter Halyna also lived there for some time, but in the summer of 2023 they decided to return and see what was happening in their native village. They were both killed in Torske…

Nina Tyrinova and her daughter Halyna were buried in the village of Rivne, Kirovohrad region, where their relatives had relocated.

Nina is survived by her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

At 9:00 a.m. — a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the “Memorial: Killed by Russia” platform commemorate the residents of Donetsk region who were killed by Russian forces.
