Nationwide Minute of Silence

Published 15 January 2026 year, 09:00

Oleksandr Losyk came under shelling in the Kalmiuskyi District of Mariupol on March 15, 2022. He was walking from his grandmother’s house on Sadkovyi Lane to his own home on Parkhomenko Street. Nearby were a neighbor and a friend, who were also killed.

“Sometimes my brother went to our grandmother’s house, which had previously been damaged by a missile strike. He would clear the rubble there and retrieve some belongings. That day the three of them went together and never returned. Later, when his sister-in-law went to look for them, she found their bodies at the intersection of Sadkovyi Lane and Brestska Street,” Oleksandr’s sister, Daria, said.

Oleksandr Losyk was 30 years old. He was born and lived in Mariupol. He worked in construction and loved football, playing for the Sparta team.

“My brother was a good person, always ready to help anyone who asked. He loved children very much. Always smiling, kind, calm, and positive. He had many friends and acquaintances,” Daria said.

Oleksandr was buried in the settlement of Vynohradne. He is survived by his wife and two children.
