National minute of silence

Published 15 August 2026 year, 09:00

59-year-old Oleksandr Bezruchko was killed as a result of the shelling of the settlement of Ocheretyne in the Pokrovsk district on October 7, 2022. That day, relatives had gathered to celebrate his brother’s birthday. Oleksandr was standing in the yard talking to his brother’s close friend when the shelling began. Both men were killed.

Oleksandr was born in Ocheretyne. A driver by profession, he held all driving license categories. He worked as an ambulance driver in his hometown. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and taking care of the yard. He was interested in repairing household appliances and vehicles, and he adored fishing.

"He was a very kind and caring father and husband. He always tried to help—not only his relatives, but everyone around him. Cheerful, never downhearted, he was the life of the party," said Oleksandr's son, Anatolii Bezruchko.

He is survived by his wife, son, brother and his family, two grandchildren, and nieces.

At 9:00 AM—the national minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial Platform: Victims of the War remember the residents of Donetsk Oblast killed by Russians.
