Nationwide minute of silence is observed

Dmytro Lenda, call sign “Britanets,” was killed on February 7, 2023, while defending the city of Bakhmut. His life was cut short by enemy artillery shelling. The defender was 26 years old.

Dmytro was born in the village of Novobakhmetieve, Kramatorsk district. He studied at Novooleksandrivka School. In 2017, he graduated from the Kharkiv College of Construction, Architecture and Design. In 2021, he completed his studies at the Kharkiv National University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, majoring in Construction and Civil Engineering. In civilian life, he worked at a restaurant in Kharkiv.

In the autumn of 2022, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in the United Kingdom. Later, he served in the ranks of the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade Kholodnyi Yar as a rifleman in an anti-tank platoon.

“You couldn’t find a better brother or friend. A kind, cheerful, always smiling young man who loved life very much. For our family, Dima will always be alive, because the memory of him will be eternal,” his sister said.

The soldier was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.

Dmytro was buried in his native village.
He is survived by his mother Iryna, his sister Yuliia, his nephew, and other relatives and friends.

At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide minute of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the platform Memorial of Heroes honor the fallen defenders from the Donetsk region.
