Soldier Maksym Shynkaryuk was killed on August 6, 2023, in Donetsk region while performing a combat mission. He will forever be 31 years old.
Maksym was born on November 2, 1991, in Sloviansk. He studied at School No. 12. After the ninth grade, he enrolled in a railway technical college, where he trained as an overhead contact system electrician. He worked in his field on the railway. In 2014, he got married, and later he and his wife welcomed a son and a daughter.
After the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Maksym took his family abroad to safety, while he himself engaged in volunteer work. Risking his life, he used his car to evacuate civilians from frontline settlements.
In May 2023, Maksym voluntarily joined the National Guard of Ukraine. He defended Ukraine in the 1st Rifle Battalion of the 15th Sloviansk Regiment, serving as a driver.
The defender was buried in Sloviansk at the cemetery on Danylo Halytskyi Street.
At 9:00 a.m., a nationwide moment of silence is observed. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform commemorate the fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
