Junior Sergeant Mykyta Okhrimenko, call sign “Pechenih,” was killed on September 17, 2025, while carrying out a combat mission. He was 25 years old.
Mykyta was born in Kramatorsk. After graduating from school, he enrolled at Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University in Vinnytsia. He considered both cities his home and dreamed of returning to them after Ukraine’s victory.
He was passionate about history, studying liberation movements and possessing extensive knowledge of the history of Europe, America, and Ukraine’s struggle for independence. An active student, he founded the History Faculty Discussion Club. He loved heavy metal music, was a vegan, and followed the Straight Edge philosophy.
At the beginning of 2022, Mykyta was working in Poland to save money for a master’s degree program. After Russia’s full-scale invasion, he returned to Ukraine and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought for Bakhmut, in the Serebrianske Forestry area, near Robotyne, and around Chasiv Yar.
According to his sister, his call sign referred to an ancient warrior of the steppe—strong and free.
At 9:00 a.m., Ukraine observes a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial Platform honor and remember the fallen defenders of Donetsk region.
