Nationwide minute of silence

Published 19 February 2026 year, 09:00

Viktoriia Korostelova, 45, was killed by a Russian airstrike on Sloviansk on the morning of January 27, 2026. The house where she lived with her family was destroyed. Nearby, her 48-year-old husband, Mykhailo, was also killed. Their 20-year-old son, Vladyslav, was injured.

Viktoriia Korostelova was born in Sloviansk on April 25, 1980. She studied at School No. 8 and graduated with honors from the Sloviansk State Pedagogical Institute, earning a degree as a teacher of physics, computer science fundamentals, astronomy, and life safety. She later obtained a second higher education degree from the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University in Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electromechanics.

She taught physics and astronomy at the Sloviansk Energy Construction College and served for several years as a methodologist. Colleagues remember her as a talented educator — sincere, kind, and wise. They say she did not simply teach; she lived her profession, dedicating 23 years to her beloved institution.

Viktoriia Korostelova was laid to rest alongside her husband in Sloviansk.

She is survived by her son, mother, sister, and two nieces (one of whom serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine).

At 9:00 a.m. — a nationwide minute of silence. The Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform: killed by Russia — we remember the residents of Donetsk region killed by Russians.
