Serhii Besiedin was killed on April 7, 2024, as a result of a Russian shelling in Chasiv Yar. He was taken to a hospital in Kostiantynivka but died from blood loss. He was 47 years old.
Serhii was born and lived in Chasiv Yar. He trained as a welder, served in the army, and held the rank of senior sergeant. He also studied to become a firefighter and worked in the profession, later employed at the Bakhmut pre-trial detention center.
In recent years, he served as a church assistant at St. Nicholas Church. “He had been drawn to the church since childhood. He wanted to study and asked for a psalter,” his relatives recall.
During the war, his family evacuated, but Serhii stayed behind to take care of the household and help others.
He was buried in his hometown. He is survived by his wife, two children, parents, sister, and brother.
