Nationwide minute of silence

Published 20 September 2025 year, 09:00

36-year-old soldier Roman Liadskyi was killed on January 5, 2024, in the battle for the city of Krasnohorivka in Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained a fatal mine-explosive injury.

Roman was born and lived in the city of Vuhledar. He graduated from Donetsk National Technical University with a specialization in engineering. He worked as a mining foreman at the Pivdennodonbaska-3 mine named after M. S. Surhai. In his free time, he crafted concrete products such as outdoor vases, planters, and pots.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he took up arms to defend his homeland from the occupiers. He served in the 109th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a rifleman, mechanic-driver, and squad commander.

In September 2023, he was awarded the honorary badge Golden Cross.

“From the very first days, Roman stood up to defend the Motherland. He performed his duties with dignity, bravely took on the toughest tasks, and was an example for his comrades-in-arms. He was always smiling and positive, a kind-hearted life-lover. He used to say he was fighting for our tears. He never complained or spoke much about the war — he didn’t want to upset me. He always said: ‘Ukraine will prevail,’” said his wife Oksana.

The warrior was laid to rest in the village of Poharysko in Lviv region.

His wife and mother never saw their Hero return from the war.

At 9:00 a.m. — a nationwide minute of silence. Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Heroes Memorial platform honor the fallen defenders from Donetsk region.
