Doctor Serhii Vlasiuk Rescued Patients in Mariupol Until the Very End — Killed on April 2

On that day, Russian forces shelled City Hospital No. 4. Serhii Vlasiuk was in the emergency department at the time. As his colleague Yuliia Malakhova recalls, “all hospital buildings came under fire.” Serhii was fatally wounded by shrapnel to the chest and died on the spot.

Serhii Vlasiuk was a first-category ultrasound diagnostics doctor. He studied at the Luhansk State Medical University and began his medical practice in 1998. He worked in the emergency care unit at Mariupol City Hospital No. 4.

Colleagues say that despite the fighting, Serhii never stopped working, saving wounded residents of Mariupol every single day.

“He did not abandon the wounded and kept working, fulfilling his medical duty until the very last moment,”
