Nationwide minute of silence

Published 23 August 2025 year, 09:00

Viktoriia Zadniprovska was killed on March 23, 2022, in a Russian airstrike on a residential building.

Her 3-month-old daughter Daria, her husband Oleksandr, and his younger brother with his family were also killed nearby; dozens of people died in total.

They had lived in Pavlopil, Sartana community. On February 24, they moved to Oleksandr’s brother’s apartment in Mariupol — it seemed safer. She wrote to Daria Aghabekian: in the basement without electricity, gas, or connection; her parents stayed in Pavlopil: “If we are to die, then in our own home.”

They were sheltering in a high-rise building on 19 Metalurhiina Street. At 5:40 a.m., a plane dropped two bombs on the house — all were killed. On May 15, the brothers’ father recovered and identified the bodies; on May 17 they were buried, Viktoriia together with her baby in one coffin.

Kind and open-hearted, she loved animals and had kittens. As an orphan, she was entitled to receive an apartment. She met Oleksandr in a café. On December 3, 2021, their daughter Daria was born. Viktoriia has no one left.

At 9:00 a.m. — a nationwide minute of silence. Donetsk Regional Military Administration and the Memorial platform: residents of Donetsk region killed by Russia.
