The life of 57-year-old Valentyna Khodak was taken by a Russian airstrike on Sloviansk on the morning of March 10, 2026. Valentyna was at home, preparing breakfast for her mother when an enemy bomb exploded right outside her kitchen window. She died at the scene from multiple severe injuries.
Valentyna was born in Sloviansk on February 18, 1969. She studied at Secondary School No. 8 and later graduated from Vocational School No. 56, where she obtained a qualification as a saleswoman. She worked at the Sloviansk Ceramic Plant. After the birth of her son, she devoted herself to running the household and caring for her ill mother.
Valentyna loved flowers and enjoyed painting. She is remembered as a positive, sincere woman with an active outlook on life.
She was laid to rest at the cemetery in the Cherevkivka neighborhood.
She is survived by her husband, son, and mother, who was injured during the shelling.
